Hi Nomax, *,

IMO it doesn't work in general - because it seems, you need the
_Novell_ edition of OOo; see system requirements:
The OpenOffice.org OpenXML Translator requires the following versions
of OpenOffice.org:
* OpenOffice.org 2.0.4 or later Novell edition for Windows [...]
As I remember, there's a similar notice in a readme file.
[...]
I installed it on vanilla OpenOffice.org 2.1 and now have the
"*Microsoft Word 2007 Document (*.docx)*" option in both "open" and
"save as" dialogs in Writer.
Yes, indeed. Here it's the same.
I saved as a test document in this format and opened it afterward
with success. So *yes it works!!!*
Ok - in this way here it works, too.
Saving with OOo and opening with OOo.
Unfortunately, I don't have files
saved in Word 2007 (I know nobody who has Office 2007) so I can't
verify with a native MS OpenXML document.
I tried now with some test-.docx, distributed by MSDN.
Results:
- 'The file ‚Word1_original.docx‘ is corrupt and therefore cannot
be opened. Should OpenOffice.org repair the file?'
-> 'Yes'
- 'The file ‚Word1_original.docx‘ could not be repaired and therefore
cannot be opened.'
-> OOo crashes ... (I had to restart the OS, to bring back OOo)
This is strange... Am I the only guy who has this thing working?
In the package manager, I got an error message when I click on "My
packages" since I installed this plug-in.
It says something like: "this media type is not supported:
application/octet/stream'.
I had this message, too; don't know what it means.
I think this is because the oxt contains an
exe file, only xcu files are supported as pachages.
However, except this
error message the plug-in works.
See above.
It also works with a comparing editor called diffopc.exe (by ARsT
Design; distributed by MSDN tools, before MSO 2007 was published),
with whom you can have a look into the structure of .docx [but also .odt].
My summary - as Dave said before:
Don't waste your time, it's still broken :(
Regards -
Manfred
