YES! James, thanks.

This seems a similar error to what I get when trying to set up the
Evolution addy bk. As I said in my post to NoOp, I incorrectly tracked
this down to a missing libevoab2.so file in the OOo stock version, but
now realise this is included in OOo stock.

- I can get that error by (amongst others) navigating: Tools > Options >
OpenOffice.org Base > Databases. Here I can see only the standard
Bibligraphic example dbase file at:
/home/myhome/.openoffice.org2.0/user/database/biblio.odb
But, also in that folder is the "evolocal.odb" file created (I assume)
under my previous install of the fedora OOo. If I select "New" I get a
"New Database Link" dialogue and then browse to the "evolocal.odb" file
which can then be selected and "Registered". (You can get to the same
dialogue by selecting to show "Data Sources" in, for instance, a Writer
window and right-clicking in the left-hand database selection pane and
selecting "Registered Databases ..." and then selecting "New...".)
- Now, having "registered" that database and having it appear in the
databases selection pane, selecting the table for that database produces
the error:
-- "The connection to the data source "evolocal" could not be
established." with a "More" button
-- Selecting that "More" button gives additional info:
--- "Error":
SQL Status: HY000

The connection to the external data source could not be established. No
SDBC driver was found for the given URL.
--- "Information":
A connection for the following URL was requested:
sdbc:address:evolution:local

Now, going back to Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org Base > Databases
and selecting "Connections" shows a whole list of "sdbc" database
drivers as known to OOo, including
"com.sun.star.comp.sdbc.evoab.OEvoabDriver"

And, some more info:
If I open the evolocal.odb in Base and select Edit > Database >
Connection Type... I get a dialogue that tells me "Database Type:
Evolution Local" from a drop-down menu list of all database types and
"This kind of data source is not supported on this platform.
You are allowed to change the settings, but you probably will not be
able to connect to the database"

From a similar drop-down menu list of database types accessed when
selecting a new Base file and the "Connect to an existing database"
radio button the "Evolution Local" database type isn't shown...

SO! Any ideas what's going on?!
Any way to access a "data source URL" directly - to try to input
sdbc:address:evolution:local directly?

Anything that might need installing to access those mysterious missing
data types?

And, do you use Evolution on a Mac?!

Thanks,
M.
