I just recently visited a web site where Open Office is being offered for sale
in the amount of $11.95. This seems rather strange to me, especially when it
may be downloaded from the Open Office web site for free. I have been using
Open Office for nearly two years, and this is the first time my seeing it being
sold on the internet. The web site also appears being tied in to the Sun web
site, and using the Googles web site for payments. It just appears very
strange that your free product is being sold by some persons, and it is my
first time to learn of it.

OOo has been sold on the Internet for years, and for the most part we're okay with it. You see, not everyone has the ability to download the product for one reason or another, so we have members of the community who will sell CDs of OOo at on the average reasonable costs (typically covering materials, postage, and time). It appears you've encountered one of these members.

What more commonly irritates us are those who charge much more and often take credit for the work of others... until technical support is needed, when they send their customers to our mailing list!
