2007/3/16, Alanna Fox Starks <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
Guy, I have installed it form the openoffice website 3 times. Today, I download it a fourth time. I have saved files in that format that also dissappear. I am not an idiot and no, I did not delete the file. I have been on the internet since it was first released to the public (I was working on a black screen with oragne writing at the time), and I have been a websmaster for over 10 years. This perplexes me. Same thing happens with firefox browser as well. Hence the question for openoffice users. I need this program to open xls files as I don't have a spreadhseet program worth a damn on my mac and I absolutelyu refuse to give bill gates any more money. :) Thank you for your email, Alanna -- > 2007/3/15, Alanna Fox Starks <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: >> >> Hello, >> >> >> I am using version 2.1.0 of OpenOffice.org for Mac. Alanna, • please reply to [email protected], so other people may try and help you. • as Tom Chilton suggested: did you install OOo (drag the icon to Applications), or run it from the install file? • did you try and use Spotfire to locate your missing programs and files? • maybe there is a problem with the maps of the 'administrator' and those of a 'user' When you open the Finder, what icons and names do you have at left? In what folder do you normally keep your docs? Is the Documents folder here the same as the Home/User(little house > Documents folder? • in Finder, open Applications (Programs). Has OpenOffice.org (and Firefox) its folder/icon there? If not, maybe they are under Home/User > Applications (Programs)? Unless your Mac is seriously 'ill', no program or file can disappear without you making it. So, they all must be there somewhere... It doesn't make sense to continue downloading OOo: by now you must have 4 identical versions on your computer already. To keep searching fot your files seems the best bet -- Guy using dutch OOo 2.2 RC 3 on a iMac Intel DualCore Tiger and dutch OOo 2.2 RC 3 on a G4 PPC Powerbook Tiger -- please reply only to [email protected] -- Dodoes can't afford to have headaches
