Today's lesson learned, as was mine, some time ago when I returned from a vacation to find several months data stored at a large computing center lost. Now, when doing complex work, be it authorship of essays or programs, I back up my work, at least to a different directory and often to a different machine, either about every fifteen minutes, or after each difficult-to-reproduce creative act. I never rely on applications or persons to do it for me. (BTW, I have been using computers for about forty-two years. My first computer was a "mini", with a large amount of memory: 8k of 12 bit words.)
