Mary: It appears that you may have run into a problem with OpenOffice.org that may be fixed in version 2.2 of the program, which is scheduled to be release on or about March 28th. I am still in the process of conducting Quality Assurance testing on that version, thus I cannot, with good reasoning, recommend that you download and use the current release candidate in a production environment. However, what I can recommend is retrieving the release candidate from: ftp://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/2.2.0rc3_20070306 and look for the appropriate version for the processor in your Mac (Intel is the intel based system and usually has the name Solo or Duo in the processor name, PPC is for the older PowerPC platform and usually has G3, G4 or G5 in the processor name.) For example, to get the American English version, look for the file named: OOo_2.2.0rc3_20070306_MacOSXIntel_install_en-US.dmg
Download and install this file like the one you downloaded from the OpenOffice.org site. This file will NOT change any of the settings for the current version. Try to save the presentation in Power Point format. Please advise, through this mailing list, whether or not your daughter was successful.
