Maybe you should tell us what Operating system you are running. On my
laptop with MS Windows XP, the installation of OO 2.1 was executed
perfectly (yesterday). I just had to remove the installation icons on
the desktop and take one of the icons from the "Programs" (Start >
Programs> OpenOffice 2.1) and put it on the desktop.

I'm not sure if this is a common problem, but I downloaded OpenOffice 2.1 and went through the installation wizard. It said it was installed. I clicked Finish and rebooted. I couldn't find any OpenOffice link in the programs menu or on the desktop. This is a brand new HP 9207. I'm sure it meets the system requirements. I haven't changed the computer so it shouldn't run into any problems.
