Wolfram Herrmann, I take it that your OpenOffice is a German version?
Did it download as 3 different files? Have you installed OpenOffice
so that you can open Write? If you have documents prepared in German
in MS Word, you should simply be able to open the .doc file in Write.
I presume that your version of OpenOffice has a German dictionary to
enable you to spell-check in that language. I have never worked with
a word processor in German so this is just an off-the-cuff offering.

Did you re-start the download three times ? You have just to install
OpenOffice. I had both OpenOffice and MS Word for two years, without
problems.

I downloaded Open Office because I have to do spell check in Word
documents in German. Open Office WAS downloaded onto my dektop but
in three different files. What do I have to do to use it BESIDES my
MICROSOFT (english) package?
Thanks
Wolf
