This is what the Windows Version uses
so it should be similar in Linux

Thanks. As my workflow is very fast, I simply highlight the text and
paste with the middle mouse button. This is the default X behaviour,
but it apparently uses the application's default paste attributes and
this in not configurable. So I need to change the default paste to be
"paste with no formating".

Shortcut keys in Writer:
- <Ctrl> + <Shift> + <V>
- <U> + <Enter>

You may record is as a macro ...
[Tools|Macros|Record Macro (as above; see <F1> 'macros;recording')

... and add it e.g. as an icon in a toolbar
[Tools|Macros|Organize Macros|OpenOffice.org Basic Macros|
My Macros|<macro name> -> Assign ...]

There are also some useful Firefox AddOns as
- Copy Plain Text 0.3.3
- Auto Copy 0.6.4
