You don´t say what documente you want till change to OO.o, but I asume
you are talking about Microsoft Office-files... right ??

will find downloadable files that will help you.
But if you don´t want to read a lot of PDF:s to convert files, use the
wizard (under _F_ile), then the Document Converter.
It´s a step-by-step wizard that will lead you trough the process of
converting files, just like MS-Office files.

And, hey... don´t forget to read the manuals that you will find under
the link above... ;-)
it´s a good way to learn to handle OO.o.
