You are almost there! You've selected the note; in this state, you
can move or resize the box.

Just press Enter. You will get a normal cursor inside the note box
and can now edit the text.
I have since learned from the support forum that the above problem
is a 'bug' in Calc ??
What does that say about the support forum? ;^)
