You can create additional backgrounds yourself. You might want to
look at the Getting Started with Impress chapter of the Getting
Started Guide. It is available at
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/. Look in the
Choosing a Master Page section of this chapter. It describes how to
change a Master Page (aka: master slide, slide master). If there are
particular slide backgrounds you use more than once, create a
presentation with those backgrounds as Master Pages. Then save the
file as a template. (File > Templates > Save) Then the next time you
want to use this set of backgrounds, use File > New > Templates and
Documents to open this template.
I use templates quite a bit, so I have added the icon for
Templates and Documents to my Standard Toolbar.
