Here is the work around for your decimal accuracy: learn to use the metric system. One meter is 39.37 inches. That means 0.01 mm is 0.0003937 inches. That seems to be very accurate to me. While I live in the USA, I use cm all the time when working with OOo. That still gives me an accuracy of 0.003937 inches. I can live with that.

Don't start me off on the metric system. It was invented for simple people who couldn't count beyond 10 - they ran out of fingers - and of course I could use it: I choose not to as a matter of principle.
