There is, however, a misleading instruction in one of the pdf documents on
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/index.html .  See
chapter 1 of the Calc guide, pages 13 to 14:
Statement 1:
You can select either one or multiple sheets. It can be advantageous to
select multiple sheets at times when you want to make changes to many sheets
at once.

Statement 2:
All the tabs between these two sheets will turn white. Any actions that you
perform will now affect all highlighted sheets.

Statement 3:
The selected tabs will turn white. Any actions that you perform will now
affect all highlighted sheets.
