I'm not sure about you but "keeping" is spelled correctly. 

Anyway, by way of just encouragement.  I have 2.1 installed on the vista side 
of this laptop and spelling has worked.  So, it does work, we'll just have to 
see if we can't find the configuration malfunction for you.

The first place to start is in the language settings.  I would suggest going 
through (in the Menu bar) "Tools" -> "Options" and looking through the 
settings.  Especially the "Language Settings" section.  There may be some 
error in there, and this is a good place to start.

Look through there and send the list back the results of what you found / 
changed, and I'm sure someone here will have better info.

By the way, no one here is paid for support, the address you sent this message 
to is a List Server, and there are hundreds of folks just like me, 
volunteering their time.  I say this so you will not get the wrong idea, get 
impatient waiting for a response, or hold the OpenOffice.org project as a 
whole accountable for the messages you may get back in response.
