Thank you for your very kind response Gregory; I've embeded my response into the text below for clarity sake. > dWade, > > Check "Tools" -> "Options" -> "OpenOffice.org" > -> "Paths" > This is one of the things I'm looking into. I'm hoping that that I can create a network drive on each server and then put these paths in a directory on the servers. This way I'll be able to customize things like Auto Correct, Auto Text, and Templates for each major user group without touching anything but the six servers (I'm getting this laziness business down to a siance :o). > > Theses are some of the folders you'd need to > customize the desktops. > > I'd do a test install as well. Sorry, I don't > have the time to try that. > It's scarey how much we think alike. I've got six desktops that I've been given for testing on, then once everything is working these will be put out to the department they were purchased for. The users in this department will then be my test users to seek out and identify any bugs that I may have overlook while I was testing. Once the bugs have been found and corrected we'll then begin the mass roll out (or at least that's the plan). > > Another folder of interest would be: > <drive-letter>:\Program > Files\OpenOffice.org2\user\template > ... if you have any custom templates you need > everybody to have. > Yea, that's something I haven't thought out completely. I'm hoping the templates will be taken care of by being on the server. What I haven't thought through are the Auto Correct and Auto Text files and how to get them installed without having to go to each machine to install them. > > This is a rather quick and dirty answer, and I'm > only a user, so this is "best guess". I use XP, > and these are the folders most important to > keeping my tool bars, etc. consistent from > release to release. > Thanks Gregory, you really helped me get my thoughts in order for pulling this roll-out off; I really appreciate all you've done. > > Great news that you've "sold" a 400 station shop > on OpenOffice.org! Keep us posted on how it goes. > Yea, what is it they say: "Know good deed goes unpunished." I've got a feeling my punishment has just begun ;o) > -Greg > Thanks again for the help Greg;
