I am attempting to use an "acccounting" alignment for currency in
Oo2.2 Calc. I need to line up dollar signs, thousands, hundreds,
tens, decimal points, etc., but cannot figure how to do so.
Please (1) advise if I can do that in this program and if so (2)
how to format the cell to accomplish this. See example below.
$1,000.00
$ 500.00
$ 15.00
$ 5.00
$ .50
Thank you.

I know the format that you're attempting to achieve; in Excel, I
believe it was called "Accounting" or something like that, as
opposed to just "Currency" (which would not have the dollar signs
lined up like you desire).
Unfortunately, I do not believe there is any way of doing this in
Calc. This is one of the relatively few things that can be done in
Excel and doesn't have an equivalent in Calc.
When this question came up once before, someone suggested adding a
narrow column to the left of the numbers, and put dollar signs in
that column. To me, this seemed to cumbersome to be practical, and
it certainly isn't very elegant. But I thought I'd pass this
suggestion along.
