Hi,
By your description it doesn't sound like you have clicked the link to download... after clicking tiger then intel you must choose a language ie English at the top of the list which should start the download. if this is not the problem it might be worth trying to download the file using a download manager (there are several listed at <http:// download.openoffice.org/>) as some people have had problems using safari.
Have you tried spotlight to see if the file has been downloaded?

Hope this helps
Tom

Help! I have an I Mac computer running the Mac OS 10.4.9 system. I am having trouble downloading OpenOffice. These are the things I have tried. If you can assist me I would appreciate any help you can give me. I contacted support and here is what they told me to do and my response back.

Hi Tom,
Thank you for trying to assist me downloading Openoffice. I followed the directions you gave me and still could not download the program. After clicking on Tiger I then clicked on Intel. There isn't a dmg file on my desktop. Could it be going elsewhere? I am not sure what to do now. The version I am using is Mac Os X 10.4.9. My computer is a new one and it is an Imac. Thanks for your help. I understand this is a very good program and would like to use it.

Hi,

Are you sure nothing happens?
Safari by default seems to open downloads in the background. Click on
Window -> Downloads in Safari to see if it is on the list.

• Safari isn't always the most reliable browser to dwonload with. Firefox, Camino, Seamonkey and Mozilla (all from www.mozilla.com ) are free browsers and might make your surfing life much more agreeable.
• Downloading shouldn't be too difficult: go to
http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/download/x11.html
choose your Mac OS X version (Panther or Tiger probably), (if Tiger: chose PPC or Intel) and start the download. • once the download is completed, doubleclick on the diskimage (dmg file) and drag the OOo icon to your Programs/Applications folder.
That should do it!
Post your question here if you can't get the installation done. Please indicate OS version and possible error messages.

Good luck

Jeannie,

Please reply to the list ([email protected]), as others may be able to help you. The dmg file should go where other downloads go... maybe look for it with Spotlight (the blue circle with magnifying glass, top right). You can look for something like MacOSXIntel_install
