This doesn't help, but for what it's worth, I'm on OOo 2.2, Windows XP, with a dot as decimal separator, and when I enter 4.05, it stays as 4.05, it does not get changed to a date. If I enter 4-05, then it does get changed to 04/05/07 though.
Same here, but the zero is not necessary. 4-5 is converted to the date format that is my preferred one, in my case 2007-04-05 (Swedish standard as well as international standard ISO 8601). K. Palagin, I take that you are from Russia, and a quick look at the format dialogue tells me that the Russian default date format is DD.MM.YY, so there is obviously a conflict between decimal points and date points in your case. However, when I look for the Russian decimal separator, it tells me that it is a comma, not a point, so why are you using a point? Of course OpenOffice.org could be wrong about this, and you are probably right. In that case, this is probably something that should be reported as a bug. Or maybe a comma is the Russian separator, and you still want to use a point for some reason, then I would suggest, as a workaround, that you choose another language in the Format Cells… → Numbers → Language drop down field. If you select English, for example, decimal separator is a point and date separator is – or /. My little experiment was this: Right click a cell → Format Cells… → Numbers → Language = Russian Input the following to the cell that was right clicked: 3.4 → 03.04.07 3-4 → 03.04.07 3/4 → 03.04.07 3,4 → 3,4 Johnny Andersson
