AMD Sempron 64 bit with 64 bit openSUSE 10.2 and OO build 2.0.4.7. System has 1G RAM and two 2G swap partitions.

It works properly most of the time. Sometimes after a fresh start of
OO, and I go to the File menu, it locks up the entire system. It never
displays the file menu, and nothing I do recovers from it, including
Ctrl-Alt-Delete. The only recovery is power off or system reset. Then
when the system is restarted, it wants to recover the empty buffer it
had made. That succeeds with no problem, and full functionallity is
back - but for how long???

It never happens when I have an open file and open another, only when
there are no open files. I have never noticed any problem when clicking
on a document that will start up OO.

It doesn't matter what else I have running, though sometimes there is
nothing I have running.

Normally, it will go two or three days between crashes. Today it
happened first thing in the morning and again tonight.

Thanks, John
I have sen this on Fedora 6 AMD64.

I have not seen this using the OOo version 2.2 downloaded version. I do not remember if I have seen this with an official download, or only with the FC 64 bit version. If you continue to use the version you have now, be certain to type a few things in the opening window before clicking on the file menu. I never had a lock-up if i did that first.

I will be curious to know if you can cause the problem using the standard distrobution.
