I recently installed version 2.2 without uninstalling 2.1. My
settings were not changed. However, as Terry mentioned already, there
are some things which will not survive an update of this type:
dictionaries of additional languages for example.
In my case, all of my templates were saved. But they were in the
OOo folder in my home folder. The same thing was true for my custom
dictionaries. So, I have all of these. I did loose the Spanish
dictionary because it was in the /opt/ folder of OOo.
