>From my April 9 post; perhaps this is what happened to your brother's document: Every so often someone posts here about losing their thesis or some large document. If I recall correctly the loss seems to occur after they've shut down their computer, turn it back on and they can't find the document. I wonder if the Temporary files path (Tools|Options|Openoffice.org|Paths|Temporary files| has anything to do with this. Following is a url to a blog that discusses this issue with Firefox & OpenOffice (Ubuntu/linux biased but w/comments regarding Windows as well) that might be an interesting read for the folks on this list: <http://www.murrayc.com/blog/permalink/2006/10/31/tmp-does-not-belong-in-file-save-dialogs/> [/tmp does not belong in file save dialogs.] [http://preview.tinyurl.com/2qpolz] The ubuntu bug report also w/some interesting comments etc: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/15179 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: For additional commands, e-mail:
