I'm using version 2.1 of OpenOffice.org. My problem is :

The most incredible thing - I saved a stupid little text document, all text was
in Arial, some
bolds, a little bullets and nothing more. 1 page total, I had just started
working on it. And after
the save your application froze. This being a very common occurrence on Windows
:), I did what I
usually do and killed your process. I then attempted to reopen the document in
your app (I was
pretty sure the saving was complete and didn't expect any problems) and it
offered to recover the
document. In the first pass I refused. The app opened only to freeze in exactly
the same manner as
before. The GUI didn't redraw at all, except for window borders. I tried with
recovering, the same
happened.

And as if this wasn't bad enough - now I cannot start Impress either. I haven't
tried the other
apps, but something tells me the same will happen.

Among the things that I guess could have some influence on this: the Styles and
Formatting tool
window was open, both apps freeze with only it's window borders visible, and so
I know it's there.
And also, I attempted to embed a Draw drawing into the text before saving it.
But I deleted it and
worked normally after that for some half an hour before all this happened.

In conclusion, I cannot describe the level of dissapointment I feel now. I was
willing to forgive
some stupid little things (like some serious memory consumption, and, for
example, incredibly
idiotic animation engine in Impress that freezes the app until the slide-change
animation ends, and
is quite slow at it, too...) but this is incredible. If I wasn't able to access
this document any
more, that alone would be inexcusable, but not being able to do anything at
all?! What exactly do
you expect from your users, to reinstall your app every month or two? And I
don't even use it that
much.

I just downloaded version 2.2, the same thing happens again. This time it
actually managed to
display the document, but froze on displaying the content of the "Styles and
Formatting" tool
window. I will uninstall it by the time you receive this e-mail.

I like using open source software, not just because of the price :) (I can
easily and with NO, I
repeat NO, feeling of guilt illegaly obtain MS software) but the affection I
may feel doesn't lower
my standards, and this is, in any case, below any imaginable standard. Please
fix this. When
something like this pops up, I immediately get the impression that your app is
a similar collection
of garbage code as MS' apps usually are and I start to question the whole open
source idea. Yeah,
it's free. And it doesn't work. Kinda figures, don't it?

P.S. You say all the mail sent to you is public. Does that include the sender's
e-mail address?
Don't bother with replying to this address, this is a junk address I use for
some suspicious
registrations and things. It would be nice if you would put something on the
"Contact" page about
this. I apologise if it's already there and I missed it.
