See in the menu Tools>Options>OOo>Accessibility if the option "Use automatic font
color for screen display" is checked. If so, uncheck it.

Since yesterday (13.04.2007), OpenOffice.org 2.2 no longer permits me to
display or alter font color.

I have tried using the Character... command in the Format menu both
before typing and after selecting typed text. The font color appears in
the dialogue box, but nothing I can think to do alters the font color
displayed in the document. The same situation occurs when I attempt to
change the font color with Stylist (where I select font that is supposed
to be the color I want), and with the toolbar font color icon.

In addition, font colors in texts I have already typed are no longer
displayed, nor is the font color changed when I create a hyperlink,
although the hyperlink works. This is all new for me after using OOo
peacefully for several years now.

I am running Windows XP service pack 2 on a Sony Vaio notebook computer.
I have tried scanning my computer with a registry cleaner and similar
utilities, reinstalling the program from a fresh download package etc.,
both before and after manually deleting OOo files and folders in my
Programs folder and in my Docs & Settings.

One peculiarity of my installation: in the past I had installed OOo on
my C:\ partition; now, for reasons of space, I have been running it (for
at least a year) on my D:\ partition.

Sorry about the length -- I thought the record so far might make
effective responses easier.

Thanks,
Wanda
