what it is designed to do ie store email? My workstation is a caching
mailserver (IMAP store) that collects mail from my ISP POP a/c and
stores it. I read the emails on the 'server'. I have all my folders
under the Inbox in TB and not under local folders.

Well, the IMAP server is the AIM server that AOL runs for its free email
accounts, somewhere in the US, and I'm in Australia. Filtering to
folders on the IMAP server - which I did try for a while - seemed very
clumsy and slow. I use this account for things like forums and mailing
lists.
I run my own email server, on an OpenBSD box, which I use for "regular"
email, and the rest of my email accounts (both POP and IMAP) live there.
