That sounds like there is some sort of permission problem accessing X.
Is there some way that the OO executable is "set UID"? Even root can't
arbitrarily open a window on your session.

Subject: "no suitable windowing system found, exiting"

I have the stock OOo on SuSE 10.1.

It crashes during the boot splash, with:
find: /home/dcorking/.mozilla/firefox/yhklqowy.default/CT206790:
Permission denied
no suitable windowing system found, exiting.

** (process:12902): WARNING **: Unknown error forking main binary /
abnormal early exit ...

I have googled the subject, and taken an strace (190 lines). But I
can't make sense of the strace log, so I have posted it to
http://paste.lisp.org/display/39834

What would you suggest as my next step to troubleshoot this?

David
