I forgot to say that a zip file was downloaded to my desktop but, when I 
clicked on the zip file I got the same results as described before.

I'm not really sure what is going on here. I assume that you are using
Internet Explorer and possibly it has something to do with IE thinking
that you are downloading a 'zip' file instead of a OOo file. But it
could also be that some associations are messed up as well. Have you
tried (after downloading a template - using 'save as') opening it from
within OOo.

I've attached one of the templates (although it won't get to the list)
for you to try out. If you can advise the list what happens when you
try to open this template.
