John, I am assuming you have (depending on the downloaded file) tar xvf'd and gunzip'ed the file into some specific directory; also am assuming that you did a rpm -Uvh *.rpm, or an rpm -ivh *.rpm; When I did that during the process of upgrading OOo from 2.1 to 2.2, I had exactly the same error. What I then did was to go ahead and do a rpm -Uvh to the java file. Then run the rpm -Uvh on the rest of the Openoffice files. That sort of took care of that problem, although I ran into other problems later. If what I have stated makes sense, go ahead and try it out.
