older one, if it's easier.

after reintalling tiger, the xterm box has stopped coming up. Now when
I try to open OpenOffice, it times out.

Not sure what to do!

Did you reinstall Tiger? I think that normally X11 isn't included in
the installation. Maybe check if the program sits with your
Applications > Tools (or whatever it's called in English, I have
Dutch). While you're there, you can launch X11 and tell us what you
find in X11 > About X11.
Also: is your Mac an Intel or a good old PPC? (Apple icon > About this
Mac > Processor)

OOo2.2 is OK, if you have the right version (Mac PPC or Intel / for Tiger).
