2007/4/17, ROB COLLUM <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
Chuck wrote in describing something similar to my own problem. Guy had some
specific questions, which I think I can answer from my own experience so
far.

I also installed OOo 2.2 for PPC (I'm on a 15" flat panel iMac 800MHz G4
running 10.4.9). And I followed the instructions and have confirmed the
correct version of X11, and I set the prefs for X11 as directed (e.g.
millions of colors).

% X -version

XFree86 Version 4.3.0 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6600)

When I try to open the OpenOffice.org 2.2.app its icon bounces on the dock,
then the X icon appears alongside it, then the xterm window pops up, and
then the OOo icon disappears from the dock. And so, I also seem unable to
run OOo.

That help narrow things down any?

It does, Rob.

4.3.0 is the Panther version of X11. You need 4.4.0 for your Tiger.
Can you check whether you have the right version on your Tiger install disks?
The exact location on the install disks varies, so you might use
Spotlight to locate the package: X11User.pkg (and you can install it
right out of Spotlight if you want).
After installing the X11 4.4.0 (probably X11 1.1), you better update
from the Apple website tot version 1.1.3:`
