Hi James,
Sometime since your last successful sort, you merged two or more cells in your spreadsheet. If you can't identify which cells are merged, the simplest way to clear them is to select the entire sheet by pressing ctrl+a, then select the 'format' menu command. 'Merge Cells' should have a check beside it. Click 'Merge Cells' to unmerge all merged cells. You should be able to sort. If you want to keep some merged cells, for a title perhaps, don't include them when sorting.

In Calc I have created a list of addresses.
All of a sudden a few days ago I could not sort
I keep getting a
"Ranges containing merged cells can only be sorted without formats"
What is this refering to and how can I get the list to sort.
How do I get out of it so that I may sort whenever I want.
I don't understand the statement.
