And why would that be?

Reseller/Distributors have the cost of the websites, production,
advertising, possible support, etc. I've no idea or affiliation with the
mentioned link, but USD$14.95 seems quite reasonable considering the
costs necessary to take the order, process the order, burn the CD, ship
the product, and allow for the expected follow-up support questions. Do
you suppose that you could do all of that for $15 bucks a pop? Why
shouldn't they make money off of it? Would you do it for free? I wouldn't.

Selling OOo on CD's provides a valuable service for many; remember much
of the world (inlcuding very many in the US) doesn't have broadband
connections...

I would be more concerned about the quality and integrity of the seller
and files included on the CD, and if the seller were not listed on the
above URL.

OOo needs to address the problem of fly-by-night resellers. Perhaps they
could start a "OOo Approved Reseller" program whereby resellers abide by
http://distribution.openoffice.org/cdrom/distributors.html and other
criteria. The resellers/distributors could display a "OOo Approved
Reseller/Distributor" on their website so that anyone purchasing from
that site would be assured that the minimum OOo requirements are met.
