Hi,

it becomes more and more difficult, to read this thread.
Therefore my reply here at the beginning:

I don't know the localized Bulgarian version 2.2 of OOo,
perhaps the en-US language pack is integrated?

If there are in
'Tools|Options|Language Settings|Languages
-> Language of ... User interface [first line above]

in the box at right side these entries:
- English (USA)
- Bulgarian (Bulgaria)
- (perhaps also) Default
there should be the possibility, to switch between Bulgarian and
English user interface (also help etc.).

It doesn't depend on any other settings in this window, whether it
works or not.

After changing the language of user interface there will appear a
window with a message, that the language will be changed after closing
and restarting OpenOffice.org (quickstart.exe too).

If it doesn't work, the cause could be:
In <Program folder>
\OpenOffice.org 2.2\share\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office
is a file named 'Linguistic.xcu'.

Now:
- Closing OOo,
- renaming 'Linguistic.xcu' e.g. to 'Linguistic.xcu.old'
- restarting OOo
- switching to the other language of user interface now should work
(after having closed and restarted OOo again).

This step was solving my former problems, to be able to switch between
several languages of user interface.

The language English US and bulgarian ARE LISTED User interface. Ehen
another language is selected, Open Office does not change the interface
language even when closed and restarted and even when the computer is
switched off and restarted. The option does not work. In case you do NOT
believe me, download the bulgarian version of the OpenOffice 2.2 and try to
set-up the Interface language and let me know what exactly you have done.

Steven,
This is what the Users' Guide2 says about it:

Setting UI Language
A standard installation of OpenOffice.org will provide a user
interface (UI) of the chosen
language. Most users download the US English version, which gives english
menu
commands and english Online Help. If you want another language for the
menus (and for
Online Help, if available in that language), change the UI language as
follows.
1. Choose Tools Options
Language
Settings Languages.
2. Select another UI language in the "User interface" listbox.
3. Click OK and restart the OpenOffice.org software.
4. If the listbox doesn't list the language that wanted, see Adding
Multiple Language
Support using Language Packs.
Adding Multiple Language Support using Language Packs
Using languages packs is another way to have OpenOffice.org in
mulitple languages,
complete with the user interface in that language.
1. Open your Web browser and check the NLC website that supports the
language
needed. If you cannot find one there, then enter
http:// OpenOffice.org
 translation.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org /
intthe
browser.
2. Select and download the correct language pack for the version of
OpenOffice.org.
3. Close OpenOffice.org and the Quickstarter, if it is enabled).
4. Install the language pack.
a) With Windows (r), doubleclick
the exe file.
b) Under any UNIX, use tar command or archive tool of choice, to open the
.tar.gz file that was downloaded in preparation for installation.
c) In most cases, use the procedures described in the Setup Guide (in
various
languages) for completing installation according to standard practice for
the
target platform/OS.

so maybe check if the install was OK, id Quickstarter isn't foolong you...
(I'm a bit disadvantaged to reply to you because I have Mazc, and no
language packs here)

Sorry Steven, but I cannot simulate your situation as there are no
language packs for OOo on Mac.
From here I can only tell you how it _should_ work AFAIK... but I'm
not doubting that in your case it doesn't.
