Hi, I installed Open Office earlier this year on XP Pro because my XP Office corrupted and I could not do anything with it. Liked Open Office, looked OK and worked OK so now having installed Windows Vista I have tried several times to install Open Office without success, I am not a programmer but know my way around a PC. Do not really want to buy the new Microsoft Office suit, have already paid Microsoft far too much money. I have many Word and Exell files, cannot uninstall Vista without totally wiping my drives, what must I do. I must admit to Vista crashing with monotonous regularity and when installing Open Office this is what happens after it is partly installed. I have OpenOffice 2.2 installation Icon on my desktop. Have tried installing with Firewall off and as Administrator to no avail. I did read in your forum/support columns that Open Office works with Vista so could somebody help me please. HR Dibbens
OOo should work fine with Vista. What error messages are you getting when you try to install... Does Vista crash with no error messages - do you get the BSOD? Little more info and we'll try to get it sorted... /paul -- Vista is "dramatically more secure than any other operating system released" Bill Gates Huh ?? Defender doesn't stop spyware (Webroot) ; firewall is only 50% effective (Zdnet) ; UAC can be turned off and is annoying ; SP1 (incl security reasons) due end of 2007... ----- Try Torpark; a small portable, open-source, built on Firefox browser that enables anonymous browsing.
