This problem of loosing the network access or seeing the
other computer may be a MS problem. I have installed
other types software to my XP pro machine and have had the
same trouble. I found out that my firewall system was
part of the problem. The software somehow changed
the internal settings to what, if any, network settings
I may have. All I had to do was re-open my firewall and
recreate the list of "OK" IP address range that the
computer was allowed to access. I set this information
to the range of my wireless router recommends.

This seems to be a default action of my firewall. Whenever
something triggers a change in the network access information,
the firewall reverts back to a "safe and secure mode"

Hi Kust,
Thanks for the info. We have not heard of such problems before. From which
site did you download OpenOffice.org ?

Have not used windows in a long time. But it used to be anytime you add new software a new restore was automatically created. So this is probably normal unless MS changed something. I know when I installed TTurbo tax on my wife's
computer (Win XP) It created anew restore point.
