Perhaps it is due to the tmp file location... from one of my earlier
posts (OOo tmp paths - April 9, 2007):

Every so often someone posts here about losing their thesis or some
large document. If I recall correctly the loss seems to occur after
they've shut down their computer, turn it back on and they can't find
the document. I wonder if the Temporary files path
(Tools|Options|Openoffice.org|Paths|Temporary files| has anything to do
with this.

Following is a url to a blog that discusses this issue with Firefox &
OpenOffice (Ubuntu/linux biased but w/comments regarding Windows as
well) that might be an interesting read for the folks on this list:

<http://www.murrayc.com/blog/permalink/2006/10/31/tmp-does-not-belong-in-file-save-dialogs/>
[/tmp does not belong in file save dialogs.]
[http://preview.tinyurl.com/2qpolz]

The ubuntu bug report also w/some interesting comments etc:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/15179

So, getting back to my original 'wondering'; can anyone confirm that the
 Temporary files path may have resulted in a lost document on their OS?

And to change the tmp directory/path see the March 20 thread:

and globally (thanks to Mathias Bauer)
