Thanks Dan; the URL is in the original post:

Can someone please verify if a simple copy & paste from the following
website crashes OOo 2.2 writer on your system (linux or windows; my
system is linux):

Go to:

Select:
====
CD Distribution Materials
[snip]
      Artwork for Ubuntu stickers
====
</quote>

Note that one of the systems that I tested on has 512MB:

Unbuntu 6.061 2.6.15-28-386     OOo 2.2         2.2Gb/512MB     Crash

Also note that it doesn't crash on the Ubuntu'ized 2.2 version (runs
slow, but doesn't crash):

Unbuntu 7.04 2.6.20-15-386      2.2.0-1ubuntu3  650Mhz/256MB    NoCrash
Unbuntu 7.04 2.6.15-386         2.2.0-1ubuntu3  300Mhz/256MB    NoCrash

So I suspect that it is something in the install(s); particularly since
it does the same thing on my StarOffice8 and is repeatable every time.
Note that I have to do an rpm to deb conversion to install, so perhaps
something isn't getting converted or installed properly. I've also
verified all of the Tools|Options settings between the Ubuntu'ized
version and the OOo version to ensure that they are set exactly the same
- I bring them up on two monitors side-by-side.
