Roland, why not try scanning your computer with the use of your AVG
programme, just to see if it does discover a virus ? By the way, the fact
that an anti-virus programme is free does not necessarily mean that it is
less powerful than those that charge a fee ; the German Avira AntiVir
Personal Edition Classic (http://www.free-av.com/), which is free and now
includes a root-kit detector, always lies at or near the top of the tests
performed by the Shadowserver Foundation (
http://www.shadowserver.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Stats.VirusDailyStats). But of
course, no anti-virus programmes snag all viruses at once. Another, and
perhaps more effective way of dealing with malware would be to migrate to a
non-legacy OS, e g, Ubuntu 7.04 (http://www.ubuntu.com/), but that is an
undertaking fraught with consequnces (many of them however, quite
pleasant)....

It was working one minute then poof, it was gone. The spell check is
discomboobalated also. It states that it is complete when I know it isn't. I
am wondering if I accidently turned something off, which I can't find or
some shithead got past my defences and virused the program. I have a free
anti-virus (AVG7.5) program so I'm sure its possible. Could you take some
time to respond with your thoughts and advice? I would appreciate it as I
use them a lot.
Thankx,
