As others have already said; perhaps if you stated exactly what you are having problems with then perhaps someone can help you. In any event, it would be helpful if you tell us: 1. What version of OOo were you running before you decided that 2.2 is full of "useless bells, whistles, code bloat & buggy software"? 2. What specifically are you having problems with? 3. Have you tried installing and running OOo 2.2 from the OOo downloads? 4. What version of StarOffice are you running? Note that OOo 2.2 on Ubuntu 7.04 is a distro specific version; have you checked the Ubuntu Launchpad OOo buglist? See: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/ Have you filed any bugs there? Or are you simply venting? Please don't just do a hit&run vent... if you give folks a chance to help I'm sure that they will be willing to do so if asked politely. Also, constructive feedback regarding user experiences with the software always helps towards future versions - remember that OOo is Open Source software & as such is driven by *users* not a single giant corporation. OxygenOffice (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ooop) is a fine example of folks that have taken the OOo code & enhanced it to include added templates, etc. BTW: I think that AbiWord is a fine simple word processing program & has it's place. However, it is just that: a fine simple word processing program. It is *not* a full office suite like OOo.
