I just installed OOo latest version (2.2) and have lost all spell

functions.
I previously had version 2.0.4 and after installing version 2.2, I
copied my
Australian Dictionary files from 2.0.4 to 2.2 and made sure that
English(Australian) was selected for both the spell checker and the
default
language, but when I deliberately type a mistake in Writer the "check
as you
go" function does not underline it and if I spell check the whole page
the
spell checker does not pick up any errors.
I have been updating my OOo regularly since version 1.0, and copying my
Australian dictionary across each time - any ideas on what went wrong
this
time?
Kind regards, James
Hi James,
You can get the latest dictionary files from
www.dictionary.JustLocal.com.au.
However the only issue I see with your approach is the Thesaurus which
changed at one stage. The dictionary files should not be an issue.
(There are later versions but the format is the same.)
I don't know what your problem is, but you may wish to try the following.
Check the language being used by selecting Format -> Character. It
should be Australian.
Start a new document and see if spell checking works. Use File -> New to
start the document.
OpenOffice.og 2.2 under Windows XP with the Australian English
dictionary files I produce is working fine for me.
Maybe one of the above may help provide a clue.
