normally:
Underline: ctrl+u
Bold: ctrl+b

If the text is already there, then select it before you do either one of
the following.  If you haven't typed it *putting text between asterisks*
bolds it and _using an underscore underlines_.  Still, I'm wondering why
you would do both underlining and bold.   Personal preference, but I'd
just do the bold since underlines obscure the descenders.  But that's up
to you.
