I opened a presentation which should be accompanied by songs but the audio

The problem is not with the hardware or the connection because I have sound
with other applications.
Suggestions please?
Thanks,

Thanks for your effort.
David

If the presentation contains something that Impress cannot create, we have to presume that it is not an Impress document. Is it a Powerpoint document? Also, you don't tell us what operating system you are using. If you are using Windows (as it seems you are) you can download a Powerpoint viewer from the Microsoft web site and install this. If you need to display such a Powerpoint presentation but not edit it, this is a better way of doing so - and it should play the audio. You can still open the file in OpenOffice Impress if you need to edit the document.

I trust this helps.
