Um, Julie, dear...
Just above (or somewhere very close to) your "delete" key on your
keyboard is a
different key labeled "Insert"
Press that. It toggles the "insert or delete as you type" text function.
Windows, Mac, MS Office, OpenOffice, doesn't matter...works the same on
all of them.

Can I stop this program from deleting text when I type new text?
I am not sure what it is called or how to correct it but it is making me
