Someone asked this in 2005: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=42782 and was brushed off (no pun intended). I suspect that it is to maintain compatibility with MS Office and MS OS file registry associations and to ease importing gallery thumbnails from MS sources & other sources. If you have a look at the link I provided in my other post in this thread: http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/file_extensions.html you'll see many common file xtension names in the OOo source code that are common to MS: .ttf, .wav, .wmf, etc, .bmp, .bat, etc. It's also probably why Canon, Sony & others use the .thm xtension to save their thumbnail files w/EXIF info. Ping KAMI; I'd bet he'd know the detailed answer as his project has extensive extended galleries for OOo. It would also be interesting to know if perhaps one could actually put the Canon .thm thumbnails into the OOo gallery and have them show up and be usable. Hmmm... I might give that a try; now where did my son hide my old Canon A75... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
