[users] open office is cannibalizing my computer

I have been trying to delets open office to no avail.  It won't fully load
and will not leave but tries to reinstall itself whenever I open an
attachment.   I am using xp and Microsoft and installed open office to use
powerpoint.  I have tried to get rid of it in add/delete programs several
times and  it won't all delete.  Any thoughts?????
