Step 1.  Click on Edit menu  -> Select All
Step 2 Click Format -> Cells -> Cell Protection Tab -> uncheck "Protected" box.
Step 3  Click OK.
Step 4  Select the cells you want protected.
Step 5 Click lick Format -> Cells -> Cell Protection Tab -> check "Protected" box.
Step 6 Click OK.
Step 7  Click menu item "Tools" -> Protect Document -> Sheet.

Now you have the cells you want protected..
