hi. ive just bought a new desktop PC powered by the latest Windows Vista
Home Premium. the bad thing is it has no Microsoft Office. i am applying for
a new job in another hospital here in London this month and i want to write
my CV on MS Word. then i heard about OpenOffice. is this software totally
FREE without any conditions or catches?

Yep - completely free (apart from any download charges imposed by your ISP).

and can i use it , save my documents exactly like the MS Office that we
know? and is it compatible with Vista?

Yes - you can save it in Word format. However at present OOo does not
support the very latest MS formats (eg, .docx ...) - that will change, but
at the moment it does not. There are also some small inconsistencies in what
a document looks like when it has been created on OOo and viewed using word,
but these are mainly complex documents.

OOo can run on vista no worries.
