I can't speak to that with any authority or knowledge. I've pretty much always
used ps2pdf to create pdf files. I tried the OpenOffice.org built-in pdf export
function once or twice and decided that I didn't like the results and continued
to use ps2pdf without giving it much more attention to thought.

Depending on the job that you're doing, you may be happier with the results
that you can obtain by using Scribus instead of OpenOffice.org.

Frankly, I use Scribus many times more often that OpenOffice.org but that's
because I use it as the initial "creative" step in making layouts that go
through process colour separations, impositions and rips for offset presses. I
use OpenOffice.org for creating memos, fax cover sheets and invoices.

OpenOffice.org is a dandy program for what it's for and I recommend it highly.
I wouldn't write a letter using Scribus, but I wouldn't layout a book, magazine,
flyer or brochure with OpenOffice.org either.
