I have version 2.2.0 installed on my Windows 200 machine, and I just downloaded 2.2.1. Do I have to Uninstall 2.2.0 to do the update or can I just install the new version on top of the old? Is there a problem with doing that?
No, there's no problem with installing v2.2.1 on top of v2.2.0. But there's another problem: If you had changed your default dictionary settings (by installing new dictionaries or editing out default ones), they will be reset by the default settings of v2.2.1. - i.e.: <program folder>\share\dict\ooo\dictionary.lst will be overwritten by the default settings of the upgrade version. [see Issue 72559 - Dictionary configuration deleted at upgrade http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=72559 ] IMHO it's recommended to make a copy of dictionary.lst (if it was changed) _before_ installing OOo 2.2.1; and later to replace the new dictionary.lst by the former dictionary.lst. Then upgrading to v2.2.1 will not make a muddle of your language and linguistic settings. [Tested with OOo 2.2.1rc2 and OOo 2.2.1rc3; WinXP] Manfred -- CC: Matthew N.
