Hi Dan,
I finally figured out where the problem in our communication lies. You
are talking about the spreadsheet program I am talking about the writing
program. What you suggest works perfect in the spreadsheet program.
However it is not working for me in the writing program where I have
created a table and was wanting to subtract cells. Any suggestions?
Thank you once again!
Sincerely,
Alan

Hi,
I am sure that the problem is mime, but I am still not getting it.
I tried entering the statement = A5 - Q9, but it did not work for
me. Is that exactly the way the statement is suppose to look? Is
there suppose to be any '<>' or ':' in the equation? Sorry for the
headache. Thank you for any assistance you can offer.
sincerely,

Let me start all over. Here is an example. Cell A3 has a value of
39, Cell A4 has a value of 11. We want the difference of these two
cells to appear in cell D2. To the result we want, go to cell D2 and
enter this formula: =A3 - A4 and use the Enter key. A value of 28
will then appear in cell D2.
